Albert E. Barnett, MD, is Chairman of the Board. He is a nationally recognized expert on healthcare delivery models. Dr. Barnett founded Friendly Hills Medical Group in 1968 and served as the CEO of Friendly Hills HealthCare Network until 1996. During this time, he helped to build one of the most esteemed physician-led healthcare delivery systems in the U.S. A respected author and lecturer, Dr. Barnett consults on an extensive variety of healthcare issues and has written or contributed to six books on the delivery of healthcare.

Michael Villaire, MSLM, President/Chief Executive Officer, joined IHA in 2000. He handles IHA’s daily operations and coordinates IHA’s health literacy activities. He plans and produces IHA’s rewrite/redesign service and yearly health literacy conference. Prior to working at IHA, Mr. Villaire served as managing editor for a number of peer-reviewed medical and nursing journals and produced national healthcare symposia. He earned baccalaureate degrees in English and Communications from Western Michigan University and a master’s degree in nonprofit organizational leadership and management from the University of La Verne. Ronald G. Chow, MBA

Ronald G. Chow, MBA, is the Chief Financial Officer of the Institute for Healthcare Advancement. He manages the financial and accounting functions for IHA. With over 20 years of experience involved with various organizations including Wells Fargo Bank and Nissan Motor Corporation, he has served in a wide range of financial management and accounting capacities. Mr. Chow earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, and received an MBA with an emphasis in Finance from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA.
